EMDR Intensives:

Do you want to love yourself and love your life despite your past?  Doing weekly therapy produces change and relief from symptoms, but slowly over time.  Intensives offer a condensed time frame to meet your goals faster, so you can feel better sooner.

The Process

  • Intake Sessions

We will start with two 50-minute session. The first is an intake and treatment planning session to cover your history and clarify your goals. The second session is to prepare with calming resourcing needed for the intensive.

  • In Person EMDR Therapy

You will come to my office in Lakeway, TX and we will have time to discuss, prepare, and do EMDR for treatment of your targeted goal. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided for the most efficient use of time and to maximize your convenience.

  • Follow Up

We will have one 50 minute session to check in on progress, insights, your questions, and any therapeutic recommendations I have. This time solidifies gains and is helpful for continued integration.

 Intensives FAQs

  • An EMDR intensive is a short-term accelerated treatment, compressing months of therapy into days.  Using EMDR,  Ego State therapy (parts work), and grounding and calming techniques, we'll work through blocks and negative beliefs about yourself, triggers, and traumatic incidents.  An EMDR intensive is a gift to yourself, an investment in change and growth.

  • An intensive allows you to accomplish a goal without many interruptions and losing momentum.

Intensives are intense!  This might not be the right time for you.  We'll determine in a short phone call if this is the right time for you to do an intensive.

No waiting.  If you've tried local therapists, but they have waitlists, an EMDR intensive is a way to start therapy now.

Intensives are in-person for your maximum benefit, both in the therapy process and for you to relax afterwards without the stressors of your daily life.

Intensives can be beneficial if you are looking to see progress quickly, and accomplish months of therapy in days.

Intensives allow you to take a few days away to focus on therapy without the interruptions of your career, family, and other obligations.

Intensives are efficient and requires less ramp up, closure, and weekly "checking in" that takes away time from therapeutic work.

An intensive is an alternative to weekly therapy if you frequently travel, have a busy work schedule, or have trouble securing childcare during the week and can't do weekly therapy consistently.

You can live anywhere and come to Austin, TX for an intensive.

Insurance might not offer you adequate mental health coverage to meet your goals, or your insurance might not have many EMDR Certified therapists in-network.  If you'd pay for out-of-pocket treatment anyways, an intensive can be a more efficient option.

EMDR Intensives have a larger up-front cost, though can be more cost-effective compared to weekly therapy with many interruptions and current issues interfering with treatment goals.

Intensives are not covered by insurance, and the rate is a fully out-of-pocket expense.  A $500 deposit is required to schedule a time, and the remainder of the fee is due 48 hours before the session starts to ensure no payment issues the day of the intensive and allow you to focus fully on your therapeutic needs.

  • If you'd like to schedule an intensive, message me and we will schedule a short 20-minute phone call to discuss if an EMDR intensive is recommended.  We can discuss if a one- or two-day intensive is the right choice for your goals.  If you decide to move forward, we will schedule at that time.  I have Friday-Saturday availability and Saturday-Sunday availability.

  • Anxiety, depression, social insecurities, people-pleasing, PTSD, addictions, and more can be addressed in an EMDR intensive.  Addressing the root cause or trauma behind the symptoms is more effective and will produce the most benefits.

  • The intensive will be done in my office in Lakeway, TX, just West of Austin near beautiful Lake Travis in the TX Hill Country.  I'll have an easy breakfast, lunch, and snacks at the office provided for you.

  • If you are interested in more than two days, please message me and we will discuss.

  • An all-day (or two day) intensive includes: coffee or tea from a local coffee shop, breakfast, lunch, and snacks.

A welcome gift basket of self-care, therapeutic tools, and sleep items is included.

Two 50-minute sessions for an intake and resourcing to cover your history, goals, and prepare for the intensive.

A 50 min follow up post-intensive session to discuss benefits, progress, and next steps in treatment.

Five hours of EMDR trauma reprocessing per day customized to you, with a lunch break and other shorter breaks for one or two days.
