Don’t just talk… Heal

Karen Goldapp, LCSW

Karen Goldapp, LSCW, has been a social worker since 2016, EMDR trained since 2019, and EMDR Certified since 2022.  She got her Bachelor's in advertising, from the University of Texas at Austin, and Master's in Social Work from Texas State University.  She started Lakeway EMDR (formerly ATX EMDR) in 2021 and previously worked at group practice counseling centers, non-profits, and a number of social service agencies.

More importantly, she is a Myer's Briggs ENJF and Enneagram 4.

Karen is passionate and believes that every person is capable of growth, maturing, and improving their life.  She has lived through and is healing from complicated health issues.

Her private practice specializes in treating trauma, dissociation, chronic pain, and more.  While EMDR is her primary modality, she uses Ego State Therapy as a complimentary and EMDR-adjacent therapy.

In her free time, she enjoys reading fantasy fiction, cold plunging, making terrariums, petting her supermutt, very good dog, Nala, and drinking coffee, kombucha, and tea.

My Philosophy

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).  This means that the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual factors affecting any area in a person's life are taken into consideration in treatment and can be used to support you and help you meet your goals.  You are the expert on you.  I do not know what is best for you, nor will I tell you what to do.  I will make therapeutic recommendations, and work hard to facilitate healing and growth in therapy sessions.  The pacing, content, and adjustments are a collaborative process with both of us active participants.  We will work together on your goals.  I believe spirituality can be helpful to clients, who have had positive experiences, and I like to use spiritual and religious supports and resources in therapy if that is helpful to the client.

Welcome to my office

I value welcoming clients into a serene, confidential, and supportive space that makes a difference in advancing their treatment. Even though rent is the largest expense for therapists, and virtual sessions may seem convenient for clients, I have found that for most clients, in-person therapy goes smoother and is more effective. You won’t have to worry about losing internet service, a family member or roommate overhearing your session, or other at-home distractions. I also have several tools in the office to help with bi-lateral stimulation, a key component of EMDR. I look forward to seeing you here.
